Hi [NAME],
Issue 10: August 2011
A note from Angus
Yes I know... it has been a while since the last edition of The Branch. My personal apologies on that front but it has been a hectic time and I hope that most of you have been following what is going on with Trees4Scotland through our Facebook and Twitter posts!
Trees4Scotland to exhibit at the Famous Grouse Festival
Yes I know what you are thinking... we choose our events carefully right? Well we can't wait as the line up is excellent, and there should be a good footfall of people willing to support Trees4Scotland.

Let's keep the fingers crossed that Scotland does not keep up the same level of rainfall that exceeded the monsoon in Mumbai recently! Read more »
The Tree Amigos - an update on progress
Our primary schools education programme is just going from strength to strength. 2011 has seen approximately 300 children work through the project having lots of fun along the way. Read more »

New Sponsors for Tree Amigos
We are delighted that Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports are continuing their support for the Tree Amigos Programme. We will even be getting some of the kids to help with the planting of two trees outside the terminal building in Glasgow!
We are, however, looking for additional corporate sponsors to join the airports and help us expand the programme further. The latest addition is the Redizor Hotel Group who run well known hotel brands Radisson Blu and Hotel Missoni - great to have you on board! Read more »
Angus goes to Grandfather Mountain
Last month Angus flew off to the United States to attend the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games for the second year in succession. Building on the relationships established last year Trees4Scotland continues to make many more friends across all the Scottish Clans and Societies groups that are so active in the US.

This year was again a big success with the usual capers along the way... Read more »
The Haggis Man to be at Pleasanton
Big Jim the haggis man will be at Pleasanton Highland Games in California on September 3rd and 4th and has kindly offered to stock our leaflets. Wherever you see Caledonian Kitchen canned haggis you should find Trees4Scotland leaflets!
If anyone else would like to help us distribute leaflets please email Angus Gus@trees4scotland.com
Trees4TwoNations
Following the Grandfather Games Angus went on to Knoxville and met up with Rob Roy McGregor to visit the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum where they have created a fabulous area dedicated to the Tree4TwoNations initiative that we are so involved in developing.

City Cabs go even Greener
You may remember that City Cabs in Edinburgh planted 400 trees - one for every taxi and member of staff. Well they have now taken things one step further by embracing the new concept of "Eco Advertising and Promotions" via Trees4Scotlands sister organisation Gecoadz.

Those of you out and about in Edinburgh recently may have seen the Bike Billboard cruising round St Andrews Square or parked up on the Royal Mile. We are now trying to persuade them to brand up a human being... Read more » or visit www.gecoadz.com
Our new "Wee Tree Guy"
Check out this wee guy... he look a bit like one of our Tree Amigos characters. Angus found him propped up in the offices of Cortese Tree Specialists in Knoxville Tennessee - would you believe it...
Well we are looking into getting one made for us and we may have found the very lady, Kristina Jankovic! Kristina already makes clothes out of recycled materials so she more than fits the bill. To visit her shop go to www.folksy.com and type yetanotherfinemess.
Special Client Feature
Bobby Mitchell runs a small company called Pure IT Recycling and as the name might suggest they specialize in the recycling and reuse of IT equipment. Bobby comes from a farming background and has a close affinity with the environment that led him down the enterprising route of starting his own eco based business.
Bobby makes sure that he plants a tree for every collection of equipment that Pure IT Recycling makes. A bespoke planting certificate is then presented to the client company. Find out what Bobby has to say in the short interview on Trees4Scotland TV. Click here.
New Supporters
We have had a lot of new corporate supporters coming on board over the past couple of months as businesses now see the benefits of being involved with Trees4Scotland. What makes us different is the way in which we engage with our clients and this is epitomized by the new addition of the Eco Hub to our website. The Hub allows our clients to network with one another and provides the customer with a place to go to find ethical and caring businesses.
Here is what some of our new customers have to say:
Alan Crawley, MD of Optima Partners: "Planting trees for our clients has been universally well received and we are delighted to continue our support for Scotland's native woodlands."
www.optimapartners.co.uk
Glen Bennett, MD of EAE Distribution: "As a very eco focused company we enjoy working with Trees4Scotland to establish our very own section of native Scottish woodland. EAE highly recommends Trees4Scotland as the perfect partner to help regenerate native Scottish woodlands."
www.eae.co.uk
Danny Murphy, Owner of Capital Vehicle Management: "We are thrilled to be able to plant trees for our customers that will sequester carbon emissions from the lease vehicles we supply and help to create a sustainable future."
www.capitalvehicle.co.uk
Neil Hardy, Owner of The Tayside Hotel: "Our partnership with Tress4Scotland was extremely well received during our Green Tourism Assessment, and the scheme has gone down very well with our Guests. It is a small but positive way of replacing some of the resources taken from our environment"

Facebook and Twitter
A good way to keep up to date with what is going on in our strange world is to follow us on Facebook or Twitter - we upload lots of photos and video content to Facebook and you can also click through to Trees4Scotland TV from there too!

Our woodland projects...
Teaghlach Wood
While it has not been much of a summer for barbecues it has been a good one for growing trees. There has been plenty rain which the trees love and the new additions to Teaghlach Wood are growing strongly.
While the storms back in May did a fair bit of damage to the surrounding deer fencing it was nothing that we could not fix up ourselves. The trees themselves were fine!
There are now many new names on our honours boards onsite so please keep the support coming by visiting www.trees4scotland.com
To plant a tree costs as little as £10 per tree
The Whispering Wood
The Whispering Wood continues to go from strength to strength and the concept of 'memory trees' is attracting support for so many different reasons. Trees have been planted for births, anniversaries, marriages, deaths, birthdays and for a variety of other great reasons.
We ensure that the plaques are all mixed in together so it makes finding your own one more interesting as you can read other plaques as you go!
A memory tree costs £49.95 and you can order one by visiting www.trees4scotland.com/whispering-wood
Hitting the headlines
