Our primary schools education programme is just going from strength to strength. 2011 has seen approximately 300 children work through the project having lots of fun along the way. The programme consists of 5 mini projects covering:
The highlight, however, is always the field trip to Teaghlach Wood to plant a few trees. This year the trip also took in a visit to Cultybraggan Army Camp which was recently bought by the village community of Comrie and turned into and eco centre that includes 40 allotments and a community orchard.
The kids also enjoyed the story about the ghost that haunts the camp – true story! We were not blessed with such good weather for the field trips this year but that didn’t seem to matter as getting wet and dirty seemed to be pretty high on the list of priorities for most of them! All 10 of the classes that visited were excellent guests and we all are welcome back whenever they like. A post from the forum at the Tree Amigos website: “hi Angus I enjoyed our trip it was amazing I really enjoyed planting trees.from ZACHARIA OBIKE” Why not visit the tree amigos website www.thetreeamigos.co.uk
