In the pictures you will see that the ground has been mounded to suppress bracken growth. The trees are staked and sheathed. A deer fence is erected to protect the trees from sheep and, of course, deer. Only the other day three red deer were spotted patrolling round the fence trying to get in!
Offsetting through tree planting is not so much about planting trees as it is about growing trees, as the offset is calculated over the lifetime of the tree (approx 100 years).
