The Clan Gathering 2009

On the 25th and 26th July 2009 Edinburgh will witness one of the largest clan gatherings in history.

Holyrood Park will host a magnificent Highland Games over the two days, then on the Saturday evening Clan members will parade up the historic Royal Mile and take their seats on the castle esplanade for a spectacular Clan Pageant.

In association with The Gathering, Trees4Scotland is to plant a new unique woodland called “The Gathering Commemorative Woodland”. Visitors to website and to the event itself will get the opportunity to “Lay down their Scottish Roots” by planting a tree within the woodland.

Offering 1

Choose which clan (if any) you represent from a pull down menu and your clan crest will then be imported into your planting certificate that will then be emailed to you on completion of purchase. Click here to order now

Offering 2

As above but you get to leave a message that will be engraved onto a plaque that is mounted onto a wooden post and placed next to your tree. You will then get emailed your bespoke certificate, as well as getting sent a hard copy along with an A5 information booklet about The Gathering Commemorative Woodland. Click here to order now

On the Day

The Gathering Commemorative Woodland will have space in the Scottish Natural Heritage marquee during the event. As part of the SNH ‘mapland’ initiative which is helping guests track down their Scottish roots – The Gathering Commemorative Woodland has the potential to get names on the Ordnance Survey map of the district should it get enough support.

Additional Information

We will be able to keep track of how many trees have been purchased by different clans and if there are sufficient numbers then we will be able to allocate specific ‘clan areas’ of the woodland.
