That leaves a deficit of 6, 000 hectares of trees – but according to our sources things could actually be a lot worse than this.
Information has come to light recently that the creation of wind farms (with the resultant clearing of trees) is actually resulting in a deficit in our woodland creation rates.
We are currently investigating these claims further because we feel that if the information is true then there would appear to be a somewhat of a dichotomy.
Surely there needs to be a balance or a structure that requires the power companies to replant what they clear? The door is open to them to come and talk to us!
